I may have planned a fair few weddings in my time, but I have never been a bride. That feeling on the morning of my wedding is a feeling that I will never forget. So here are all the details about what it felt like to be a bride.

I thought that being so organised and having done the whole ‘wedding planning thing’ before, that I would be completely fine as a bride on the day of my own wedding. But you get a surge of adrenaline and a rush of excitement you can’t even explain.

Let’s start from the very beginning of the day! I woke up at 7am. Goodness knows why, as breakfast wasn’t until 9am. I woke up feeling sick, and rushed to the toilet. And yes I had perhaps had one too many glasses of wine the night before. But it definitely wasn’t from that. I’m not sure if I was feeling nervous or excited, but I think on that morning I felt like every other bride.

I made it half way through breakfast, having managed one mouthful of waffle, I dashed back upstairs to the loo. As soon as breakfast was out of the way, the getting ready part commenced. And this was when I started to relax. I laid on the bed with my girls. I cuddled my mum on the sofa. And we just chatted about all things. Wedding and non wedding, and had such a lovely time.

We started with Hair and Makeup at 10am. Our ceremony started at 4pm so we had plenty of time. Although there were six of us having hair and makeup done in total. And we wanted to be ready by 3pm, so we did have to start earlier than you would think. This left us enough time to start getting dressed before the ceremony. With plenty of time to spare!

Eleanor Nancy was our makeup artist. She is so kind, and so talented. And absolutely everyone loved her. It actually felt like an extra friend was with us in the room, as opposed to a hired Make Up Artist. We used a mix of Nars and Mac Products for me, and also applied fake lashes. I’ve honestly never felt so beautiful. Ellie really did create the best most beautiful version of me. And remarkably my makeup lasted all evening. Even through all the crying!

Louise Alway was our hairstylist. And from the second I met Louise at my trial and she started playing around with my hair, I knew she was the best I could have possibly chosen. I hate the fact my hair is always so flat. But Louise gave it the volume I’ve always craved. It was that perfect, just done, effortless look. And if I could have Louise do my hair every day, I would.

With so much of my morning spent essentially wearing pjs, I wanted to make sure that I still looked and felt good. Particularly as I knew that I wanted to pop downstairs and check on the set up.

I bought my robe from Georgina Keeley. It was actually a ridiculously last minute find. But Georgina was brilliant and turned it around for me super quickly, even with my new initials in the corner! I went for the White Robe in S/M with Something Blue Embroidery on the Outside Flap.

Underneath the robe, I wanted to keep it simple. It had to be comfortable, not too revealing, but also not create any marks or lines as I had a strapless dress. In the end I bought a satin ivory cami from Asos two sizes larger than my normal size. This way I knew I could take it off downwards, rather than over my head. The shorts I wore were from New Look and matched my bridesmaids robes. Unfortunately they are no longer in stock, so I can’t link them!

All of a sudden, it was time to actually put my dress on. My dad was the only person that actually knew how to do my dress up! So he put it on, and laced it up for me. I’m not sure if I wore it high enough actually, but there is nothing we can do about that now!

Of course my wedding bouquet finished off my bridal look. Which I will go into more detail on within my blog post about the flowers. It was made by the wonderful Erin from Flowers by Passion. And then finished off with the Steel Blue Ribbon by CFleursDesign. I was meant to have a darker colour too, but Erin suggested I just had the one colour, and I’m so pleased I did.

So now I’ve told you all of the details of me becoming a bride, here is how I actually felt being a bride. I have never felt so beautiful in my whole entire life.

There was a moment when we were getting ready. (Which James managed to capture on the video). Where I’m just standing and staring at all of my girls. I’m in my robe, and they are getting their dresses on. I should have been putting my dress on too really, but I just couldn’t help but stare at them for a few minutes. In that moment I was SO happy. And my face shows it.

One of my most favourite moments of being a bride, was standing in the room, all huddled together. We were all cuddling, all laughing and all smiling. Just simply waiting to be called down to the chapel. In that moment, I had no nerves, no doubts and no regrets. I was ready, to walk down that aisle and to become a wife.
